The quarterback reps broke down like this on Thursday. Cam Newton was 12 for 27, Jarrett Stdiham 7-of-14 and Brian Hoyer went 6-for-12. Stidham appears to be no longer limited and with Newton's accuracy issues, Stidham could see more reps if he can get back to his high accuracy performance.
The defense was getting their pass rush on and the secondary was staying with the pass catchers but the quarterbacks just weren't getting it done according to Tom Curran.
Curran wrote, "Cam Newton is still taking the heavy reps with the Patriots starters while Jarrett Stidham was next up followed by Brian Hoyer. None of them looked good and the defense reveled with every win."
It's understandable that the Patriots quarterbacks are going to have some lower competition percentages due to playing against this secondary unit. However, winning less than fifty percent of your battles is not what one wants from their projected starting quarterback. This is part of the reason why Newton has not been declared the starter yet.
Camp should continue on Friday providing players don't walk out in protest to the latest act of police brutality. Seven teams reported refused to practice on Thursday.
