Belichick open two using multiple quarterbacks and multiple quarterback sets.

I've been suggesting since the signing of Cam Newton, that the New England Patriots could not only use multiple quarterbacks in packages situations this season but that we could see multiple quarterbacks on the field at the same time. In an article on Bleacher Report, Twitter's Tim Daniels says Belichick acknowledged the idea on Wednesday.

Belichick told reporters at his press conference, "I always say I'll do what's best for the team, what gives us the best chance to win. So, whatever that is, I would certainly consider that. If it's running unbalanced line or double unbalanced line or 23 personnel or whatever it is. If it helps us win, then I would consider anything."

Cam Newton Is healthy and one of the more athletic quarterbacks in the league. Stidham played a little receiver in high school and was considered not only the second best quarterback but second best dual threat quarterback out of high school. Both have the athleticism to play other positions.

As far as the starting quarterback position, Belichick said "Obviously there is some point where that is going to happen. But right now we want to try to, like I said, give everybody an opportunity to get the basics. We're really doing that at all the positions. Everybody's rotating through and we're trying to give everybody an opportunity to run the basic plays, get the basic fundamentals down."

Accord to Daniels both former Auburn Tigers could start, again something I've predicted. Here's what Daniels said, "Both Newton and Stidham will likely start games in 2020. The breakdown will be based on how good the former Panthers superstar looks through the rest of training camp and whether Stidham is ready for the spotlight after some strong play as a rookie in last year's preseason."

Again, if Belichick split the first four weeks between Newton and Stidham; it wouldn't surprise me. We have seen coaches do that over the years. We've also seen coaches use situational packages to bring in a quarterback their developing, most famously the late Bill Walsh and Joe Montana. Belichick is unconventional, so it's a wait and see.

Something to Remember, Dallas in 1971 rotated quarterbacks after every play in a game versus the bears. Could Belichick pull a Landry?
