Hoyer went 9 of 11 on tuesday and is showing the most consistancy of the Patriots quarterbacks according to Sullivan. While both Newton and Stidham have each had an up and a down day. Hoyer is being that game manager, not doing anything to risky or too flashy. Which keeps him in this competition.
On Tuesday Stidham, who was the best quarterback from a day prior, went 8 of 11. Not bad but the concern is the 3 incompletions were actually completed to Patriots defenders.
While Stidham had three turnovers, he also had the best pass of the day according to Mike Reiss, completing another sideline pass to Byrd.
Cam Newton would go 9 of 12, overthrowing Byrd who seems to be a favorite early on of the three Patriots quarterbacks. He also had two dropped passes.
While Newton showed improvement on tuesday, Tyler Sullivan of CBS sports wrote, "As Bill Belichick highlighted on Monday, Newton getting caught up to speed with New England's playbook and terminology will be something that needs to evolve quickly for him to secure the starting job. Michael Giardi of the NFL Network sensed that Newton was still a bit delayed in his processing which caused a couple of no throws during the session."
Sullivan noted thus far, Stidham is just Barely a head of Newton when it comes to who gets first reps. After today, Hoyer who trails, might get the lead in reps on Wednesday.
