The Incredible Folk returns to the Patriots, as Rohrwasser struggles.

When the Patriots decided on a kicker this season, they passed on rookies Johnathan Song, Rodrigo Blankenship, and Sam Sloman for a kicker who was accurate maybe 80% of the time outside the five yard line.

The Patriots drafted Justin Rohrwasser to replace Stephen Gostkowski. Although Rohrwasser has the leg to kick the long ball, he doesn't have the accuracy. Not sure how the Patriots botched this scouting. Rohrwasser has been called erratic, with one reporter saying when he's on, he's on but when he's not the ball could be kicked out the corner of the endzone.

That's great when talking about kickoffs, horrible when one realizes they're talking about his field goal accuracy.

Coach Belichick said,  “I think both players are good kickers,” Belichick said. “We’ll see how it goes. That’ll be up to them to decide. … Those two guys will both get as much opportunity as we can give them, and we’ll evaluate them and go from there.”

Of course he's going to say that. Does one really expect Bill to be like "we messed up the evaluation process on this kid during our scouting." Of course not.

Bill went on to say, "We’ve talked to Nick throughout the course of the spring and even training camp, and things worked out here last week. It’s great to have him. He certainly came in and did a good job for us last year. But things just didn’t work out until recently with Nick. I’m glad they did. I’m glad he’s here, and we’ll see how it turns out. I don’t know.

But we’ve been talking to Nick since back in March, so this isn’t something that just came up a couple days ago. It’s been an ongoing conversation for several months, actually.”

Folk is already making field goals which doesn't bode well for Rohrwasser who was two for three on the day, Wednesday. If Rohrwasser doesn't win the spot, there's a good chance he'll make the practice squad as very few teams are going to claim an inaccurate kicker.
