Don't count out Froholdt and Cajuste, Patriots 2019 draft steals.

While Jermaine Eluemunor has been praised by the media for playing right tackle, there are two other offensive linemen that Bill Belichick is praising according to Danny Jaillet. Patriots 3rd and fourth round picks Yodny Cajuste and Hjalte Froholdt.

Belichick staff sent info down to an offensive linemen camp earlier this offseason, for the camp's staff to know what areas Froholdt needed work on.

Jaillett wrote, "Both linemen’s 2019 seasons were marred by injuries. As a result, they never really got a chance to prove themselves However, it appears that they are on the upswing, as the Patriots look to get more depth on the line. Speaking to the media on Friday, head coach Bill Belichick was impressed with the way they are progressing over the course of this training camp."

With Marcus Cannon opting out and Ted Kerras signing elsewhere, the Patriots have two major holes on the offensive line to fill. Cajuste and Froholdt have near identical builds and potential is still untapped. Patriots head coach was asked about that and spoke about his 2019 picks.

Belichick said, “Specifically on the offensive line, Yodny is again, a guy who hasn’t played a lot of football, just his background and so forth. So he’s learned an awful lot. He’s a very smart kid and he’s got good physical talent. He’s strong, he’s explosive, he can run well, he can do a lot of different things. It’s really about refinement and technique and anticipation and things like that. He’s taken a big jump there. Yodny obviously missed the whole year last year, even missed more time than Froholdt did. But he’s a guy that has a lot of experience playing the position that he’s played in college.”

The Patriots need to be able to protect the man under center and also be able to run to the right. We saw what happened in 2019 when the team could block from the left side. Having two steals from the 2019 draft on the offensive line, even if Froholdt is a back up in 2020, is huge for the Patriots.
