Hawaii’s most lucrative and highest profile football game in jeopardy

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors are supposed to get a chance to prove themselves September 19th, when they're supposed to play the Oregon Ducks who are gonna be the number 10 team in the country.

The Rainbow Warriors already have NCAA rules on what bowls team and trophies teams can play for based on conference, which hurts them; now they have to deal with potentially missing a chance to beat a top ranked team due to covid.

Governor Kate Brown of Oregon said “There is some difficult news to share, Large gatherings, including live sporting events with audiences, concerts, festivals and conventions will not be able to return until we have a reliable treatment or prevention, like a vaccine.”

It could be months or even a year before there Is a vaccine for the virus. It is understood that health and lives come before liberties and luxuries. The schools should be given a chance to play with no fans in attendance barring they meet standards.

Governor Brown went on to say " “The Oregon Health Authority is advising that any large gathering, at least through September, should either be canceled or significantly modified. I know this is really, really hard. I will miss visiting our fairs and festivals this year."

Can't get more modified then playing in an empty stadium. While it takes the home field part out of it for the Ducks,  it would allow them to continue to develop students who's careers are at stake.

Like all big named ranked schools, whenever questions about playing the Rainbow Warriors comes up, The Ducks ducked the question.

The athletics department at Oregon released a statement, “We will continue to work with state and local officials, public health experts, and campus leadership in navigating all of the unprecedented issues surrounding COVID-19 and when our student-athletes will be able to return to competition. The health and safety of our student-athletes and community will continue to be our top priority.”

Since the school is running from the Rainbow Warriors, Had to go and see if the team could go duck hunting. According to Ferd Lewis who gives hope for a chance for Men from Hawii to play the children from the mainland.

Lewis wrote, "Oregon’s state health officer and epidemiologist, Dr. Dean Sidelinger, told the media", “So I think as we approach football season, we can see how the disease is behaving in our community, what kind of steps could be taken around the team themselves and the coaches and others around the team to see if they can safely start. But as you heard from the governor’s remarks, large gatherings will likely not be happening through the end of September. So if — or when — those activities resume, they would likely resume without the fans in the stands, but hopefully the fans watching them from a screen in the safety of their own home.”

That's great news for the Rainbow Warriors, as there is a possibility that the cowardly Ducks, Might have to play the jetlagged Bows from Hawaii after all. This is a must play and win for Hawaii, who due to NCAA bowl rules; doesn't have a realistic shot ever at the National Championship.

The Sports World Is Dead and Missed

In a normal year, I'd be researching, talking or listening to people talk about New England Patriots free agent and draft Prospects. Checking up on the standings of the Toronto Blue Jays, Utah Jazz, and Tampa Bay Lightning. I might even try to pay attention to who's gonna throw down at Wrestlemania.

This year there is no sport to check the standings of. The MLB, NBA, and NHL are trying to figure out if they're gonna play or not. The wrestling world is performing in empty venues looking more like rehearsals, which is okay for some but it just feels like it's even fake then before. Plus the XFL should be preparing for their playoffs but the season got canceled.

With the Patriots we have people arguing between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Some people are now arguing Tom Brady versus the Patriots. We have people debating if Stidham is a starter, bust, or career back up. There are people arguing over whether to try to win with Stidham or to tank for Trevor. There is very little to zero talk about free agency or the draft. There really is nothing exciting to talk about because Tom Brady sucked the life out of the Patriots off season. Worst part is he still dominates almost every Patriots topic, even though he's a Buccaneer.

Hawaii would normally be having spring football but per normal, there's never any news about their college program in Western New York because sports writers here only care about New York teams and the two New Jersey football teams.

I find myself trying to socialize more via social media and realizing how much I hate people. Too many People need a Gibbs' slap. We have a quarantine and are being asked to social distance. Instead we have people grouping up and or complaining their rights are being taken away by being asked to isolate. 

Instead of getting into arguments with them, I turn to video games as a distraction. While it helps, it makes me appreciate professional sports that much more and I cannot wait for some normalcy to return. I cannot wait until Bill Belichick leads the Patriots into the football field again, hopefully that will be in August for the Preseason. 

Ranking the NCAA QBs after the 2019 season, Pre decloration.

I have little Idea at the moment who is making themselves eligible for the 2020 NFL draft. I did a top 25 non offensive line , offense ranking on who I thought would be good fits in New England. After the season I compiled a list of Quarterbacks and took the few remaining from my pre 2019 season list and compiled and ranked 40 quarterbacks who I think will be good. Since I am a Patriots fan I rated where I thought Jarrett Stidham would be. Stidham on my list coming out of college would be 21.5 out of 40. Perry from Navy is too talented to leave off this list, and earned it more for his legs, than Arm.

Some of My Criteria is 2 years of starting or a previous year with near 200 attempts. Quarterbacks had to have a decent competition percentage in 2019, with exception to like 3 players who were added after the list was compiled because they were on my pre 2019 top 25. Remember stats don't tell everything, so my list might not be statistically the way others rank their boards. I like to think my ranking is more analytical. There are people on the list that are or will be considered busts. For me Joe Burrow had a good 2019 but looks like a future bust.
