With The First Pick The Cincinnati Bengals Select Someone Other Than Joe Burrow, Really?

"Most NFL Draft analysts and pundits believe it is a formality the Cincinnati Bengals will select LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft." Says Marty Fenn of Clutch Point. 

However, there are some that think Joe Burrow will be a bigger bust than Johnny Manziel. While Burrow may not be the partier that Johnny Football is, he comes off arrogant. He seems like he's all about Money and himself. A personality that rubs many the wrong way.

Add that to the fact he really only had one season at LSU, not good. I am aware Burrow spent two years at LSU but the first was really him learning the system. The second year he got hot but like a certain video blogger asked, was it him or was it the supporting cast around him?

Carson Palmer, former Bengals quarterback who's spoken to Burrow had something to say on the issue. While It's unknown how many contacts he has still in the Bengals organization. Let's look at what he had to say.

“There is a ton of unknowns on Joe [Burrow] … He played one year of college football. It is extremely risky, right? But you’ve got to have a quarterback. And that position is — as we know — it’s the position you have to have. Every team that is a Super Bowl contender has a quarterback. So until you have that guy, you’re always looking for him. Now, Andy Dalton still is under contract. Chase Young, as you’re saying, could be the best player in the draft — probably is the best player in the draft. I think it’s a really difficult decision that they have to make. They have to either pass up on a guy that’s a 14-sack guy or go after a guy that could be the future of your franchise and handle the quarterback position for the future of your franchise for the next 10 to 15 years. It’s obviously a big decision and a difficult decision.”

Now I am not going to say that Cincinnati shouldn't draft Chase Young at number one, I mean just look at what Fenn wrote. "Young might indeed be the best player in the draft. He was the best defensive player in college football last year, and most executives have been salivating at his athleticism and skill set." 

In my opinion they should draft Burrow and Immediately look trade down with a team wanting a quarterback. Not finalizing the trade until that pick arrives. That's the safest way to guarantee they don't get screwed. The Redskins, Lions, Dolphins, and possibly even the Giants might be interested in the LSU Prospect. If so, Daniel Jones could hit the Trade block and instantly change the course of the draft.

The Bengals still have to figure out what to do with Andy Dalton. Look at the Next Generation stat comparison of Tom Brady and Andy Dalton. I am not saying Andy Dalton is Tom Brady, I am saying with injuries, roster building, and coaching staff, Cincinnati has been a mess. Dalton cannot be blamed for everything that went wrong and with that, Let's take a closer look at the Big Red Machine.

Tom Brady

Andy Dalton

While Dalton stats aren't that far off, he has shown Flashes that he can lead a team. Dalton can take a young rookie under his wing. Although Dalton will start this season, It will be clear this is Dalton's last year. 

Dalton isn't done, so let him audition for all to see. There's always an injury ridden team in need of a quarterback and a good possibility we can see Dalton traded sooner than later.

I don't think the Bengals should take Burrow. However,  I think they should consider taking-trading for Tua. Tua might have some injury concerns but he is proven, That's more than can be said about Burrow. Look I could be wrong about Burrow but I doubt I'm wrong about Tua as long as Cincinnati can keep him healthy. 

It really doesn't matter to me what the Bengals do, it has little effect on the Patriots. The Bengals have a chance to show the NFL some intelligence with how the use the first pick.
