Personal quarterback coach Mike Giovando said the following about his client, "“He’s a great quarterback who’s gonna learn his playbook, and I think there are going to be some other things they’re going to see that they like. And when they get him out there and watch him throw it, they're gonna be like, ‘He can spin it. He can spin it.’ He can throw it and he can move it around the field."
Lowerke is a mobile quarterback who could help the Patriots run more of the air raid portion of their 'Air West Spread' offense. Lowerke averaged 3.6 yards and 10 touchdowns on 346 carries during his college career.
Lowerke was having a good college career until a shoulder injury hurt his development. Lowerke had already battled a broke leg. Lowerke's 2019 season was a continuation of his 2017 season. Had Lowerke not of gotten hurt, he could very well of been a forth round pick at worst.
There has been talk about the Patriots signing a a fifth quarterback which would most certainly end the career of both Lowerke and Smith the other undrafted free agent quarterback. Belichick seemed to give a small praise to both guys talking to the NFL Network.
"“That's where we are, You never know what's going to happen down the road, but we feel like we have four good players there."
Coach Belichick never says anything he doesn't want anyone to know, so that was huge for his two undrafted quarterbacks.
Winovich and Uche's former defensive coordinator Dee Brown talked about Lowerke to WEEI.
"“I think he’s pretty good, The year we lost to them, which was back in ’17, he had about a 25-yard scramble for a touchdown. The guy obviously has a strong arm, good movement skills. I thought he had a good feel for what they wanted him to do.
I thought this year he played better against us,” Brown said. “He made one throw over the middle that I remember and I’m like, ‘Damn, that’s a hell of a throw.’ You know what I mean? Like he leaned on it and it was a fastball, baby...." "I was always concerned when we were playing him, he had my attention, that’s for sure...."
Belichick has friends everywhere, one must wonder if Dee Brown put in a good word for his rivals quarterback with the Patriots.
Right now the biggest thing hurting the rookies of 2020 is the covid-19 pandemic. Teams are holding virtual training sessions but how effective are they really? Hopefully the players will be back on the field in august, giving some importance to the summer month.
