Why Jarrett Stidham is the perfect long term Tom Brady replacememt for the Patriots

Jarrett Stidham is preparing to be the full time starter of the Patriots. This is the first time since Drew Bledsoe was part of the team where Brady wasn't the expected starter, prior to week one.

Belichick has handed Stidham the driver's manual and expects him behind the wheel of the offense in 2020.

The hoodie kept his words short on Stidham. “Circumstances will be different this year. We spent quite a bit of time with Stid. [Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels] and myself, we have a pretty good feel for [him].”

There's not a lot at this moment Stidham can do better than Brady at this point of his career. However, one area where Jarrett surpasses Brady naturally is with his ability to run. Just don't expect Stidham to pull off 80 plus yard bootlegs, like Danny Etling.

From current teammates and coaches, to those from Stidham's past, everyone is signing his praise.

Auburn coach Gus Malzhan said “It definitely helped him to learn under the best and see what that looks like, but he’s the kind of young man, too, this is what he’s been waiting on. I’ll tell you, the moment won’t be too big for him. He’ll be up to the challenge, that’s what I expect.”

Add that to the captain of New England's defense Devin McCourty's statement, “I really admire just how hard he works, and then I’ve got to know him off the field as well. He’s a really good guy. Young guy, but very mature. He’s married. I think the Stidhams are going to be in New England for a long time.”

So when Nico Beato of Clutch Point writes "Stidham has gained the confidence of management, coaching staff, and teammates so far. It should only be a matter of time when he has Patriots Nation’s stamp of approval." One can't help but agree with him.
