Belichick lost eleven players during the 2020 offseason, Including Phillip Dorsett, Stephen Gostkowski, Nate Ebner, Elandon Roberts, Ted Karras, Duran Harmon, Danny Shelton, Jamie Collins, Kyle Van Noy, and most notable Tom Brady.
While Belichick has most of the 2019 defense intact, The Patriots will be fielding a new linebacking core. The 2019 offense is pretty much returning. However, Belichick with have a sophomore with no NFL experience or a career backup playing quarterback in 2020.
The Patriots are favored to win the AFC east for the 20th time under Belichick.
Nico Beato of Clutch Point reported " Despite numerous shakeups in the offseason, Bill Belichick remains a solid pick to win NFL Coach of the Year in 2020. The New England Patriots’ head tactician is currently penciled as a 7-1 favorite by Caesars Sportsbook."
Belichick will tie legendary head coach Don Shula with four, if he can accomplish this task.
ESPN quoted Jeff Davis Caesars Sportsbook Director of Trading, saying “The only way he doesn’t get it is if one of the teams that were terrible last year makes the playoffs."
That is always possible. The dolphins weren't great, and neither were the lions. In the NFL, teams can rise and fall during a single offseason.
