"Mike Reiss reported that the Patriots were giving running back JJ Taylor $100,000 in guarantees for his 3 year rookie deal and Would earn $585,000 if he makes the roster" according to of SB Nation.
Taylor averaged 5.6 up on 587 attempts. He finished college with 3263 yards and 18 touchdowns in 40 games.
Taylor wasn't a one dimensional back however. The 5'5" 190 LB running back also caught 62 balls for 487 yards and 2 touchdowns.
But wait, like an infomercial; there's more. He also average 24.1 yards and 1 touchdown on 41 kickoff returns and had an 8.7 yard average on 3 punt returns.
Seeing it seemed like the Patriots were receiving the ball at the 10 yard line most kickoffs, starting at the 34 would be very helpful to the offensive unit.
Now before someone goes and says he's too little to play in the NFL Sproles was only 5'6" ; And if Sproles can have a long and successful career, so can Might Mouse.
Taylor is joining a crowded backfield and is going to have to beat out Bolden and Burkhead, if he wants a roster spot. It's a tough task for anyone one but Taylor's a Patriot and that's why Belichick signed him.
