Steelers GM not concerned about Ben Roethlisberger’s shape

Skyler Carlin of Clutch Point reported "Jay Glazer of Fox Sports humorously reported—and later explained—that Ben Roethlisberger’s offseason workouts didn’t include many exercises."

The Steelers replied saying 'so what' as long as he shows up ready to play, we don't care. Which has basically been their opinion of the quarterback and his actions since joining the team.

"“I know where Ben is, where he’s been in his career, and I’ve never worried about his conditioning,” Colbert said, per Mark Madden of WXDX. “When he shows up at training camp, he’s ready to go. He knows how to prepare himself." Kevin Colbert replied.

The only quarterbacks who have played while being in worse shape over the past twenty years were former Raiders' quarterback Jamarcus Russell and Jay Cutler who bounced a round like a red rubber ball.

Roethlisberger has only played 4 full seasons in his 17 year NFL career. The man who has thrown 191 career interceptions is coming off a season ending elbow injury. Colbert admits Ben could quit but is chosing to come back. So obviously the Steelers know they're on a short fuse with the former superbowl winner's career.

“I know that he could easily walk away from this game as well, but he’s continuing to play it because I think he really wants to prove and do more,” Colbert said. “To me, the guy has Hall of Fame credentials as he stands today, but that’s not enough for him—and, to me, that’s a mark of greatness.”

Over the past 17 years Ben has misses 38 of The 242 regular season Steelers games. That little over more than 2 a season. Obviously, how been keeps his body has affected his ability to stay on the field. Ben is built like a linebacker but is in even worse shape then some linemen. Maybe it's time Ben started looking out for his health, not just for his career but for his family as well.

The Steelers kick off the preseason at home versus The Revamped Tampa Bay Buccaneers in August.
