Joejuan Williams will expand his role in secondary with Patriots in Hopes of following D-Mac's success

The Patriots have a stacked secondary unit, so it's no wonder Second round pick Joe Juan Williams didn't get much playing time. The Patriots got rid of Duran Harmon but brought in more secondary players, including 2020 second round pick Kyle Dugger.

William's is 6'3" 212 pounds. Williams ran a 4.64 forty time and a 6.92 three cone. Williams is not going to keep up with faster receivers in the league at the corner position. Unlike Dugger, Williams cannot fall back to linebacker to help him get on the field. So williams will be working on learning the safety position.

Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston wrote "After playing 82 defensive snaps as a rookie, in part thanks to a well-stocked cornerback depth chart headlined by Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore, a challenge has been presented to Williams this offseason. Essentially, according to those close to the situation, it can be boiled down to this: Can you be the jack-of-all-trades in the secondary?

It might be cornerback. It might be safety. Depending on the game plan and injury situation that week, it might be a little bit of both."

The Patriots are going to be looking for their Boogeymen defense and lights out special team play to carry the team in 2020; as the Patriots figure out their offense. Tom Brady, the guy who wanted to be a Patriots quarterback for life, chose guaranteed money with the Buccaneers over his Patriots teammates; screwing the organization that helped make him the GOAT.

Williams has all the tools to follow McCourty over to safety. If he can pull the move off, Williams and Dugger can be the core Safeties once Chung and McCourty retire.
