Tom Brady is gone. Cam Newton, Brian Hoyer, and Jarrett Stidham remain. Two of the three quarterbacks are certainly more mobile than Brady. Hoyer, it's questionable. So what should we expect.
Accord to CLNS's Evan Lazar, we're still gonna see the "same concepts and schemes" but were also gonna see a "more dressed up version of the Tom Brady offense".
The plays were already in the playbook, I guarantee it. They were just buried deep because how often is Brady really gonna run a triple option or RPO? The Patriots were 29th in play calling of RPOs in 2019.
Expect to see more concepts from the air raid than in previous years. Belichick drafted Jimmy G and Jarrett Stidham with hopes of running more of those schemes. Newton doesn't have the accuracy one would want but has the mobility.
How the Patriots cover up Newton's 60% accuracy is going to be interesting. Expect teams regardless if they run a 3 or a 4 man front to spy Newton. Unless someone breaks out, the Patriots pass catchers can be played man to man. Leaving 5 guys who could still rush the Newton. The Patriots exposed their offensive line this camp, so 4 guys may be enough leaving a second guy who can float.
Well see how McDaniels prepares for 2020 in two weeks when the Patriots kickoff vs Miami.
