Time waits for no man, injury or not; competition goes on.

So this August hasn't been the most exciting if you're a football fan. College football is for the most part not happening and high school football is non existent. Then we learn the Patriots are going to have a quarterback competition and the NFL steals the preseason from us and leaves us with practice drills. Drills that many of us cannot watch.

So far the competition has been nothing spectacular and just when you thought it could take until September 6th to determine a winner, Jarrett Stidham suffers a hip injury.

Most likely a strained groin from not being fill stretched. An injury that can effect the thigh, knee, and hip. Pitchers in baseball deal with this all the time.

Bleacher Reports' Tim Daniels wrote, "It doesn't sound like Stidham is dealing with a serious injury at this stage, but if it forces him to miss more practice time as the regular season gets closer, it will bolster Newton's chances of winning the job."

Ian Rapaport noted that Stidham hasn't looked the same going back to Tuesday and led to speculation that his decline from Monday has been all due to being distracted with an injury in his leg and hip. "that he hasn't had the same power on his throws due to the injury."

For fans that wanted to see Cam Newton beat out Stidham and earn the job and thus their respect, this is horrible. If Stidham doesn't return soon, every mistake Cam makes will have people calling for Stidham. For the other portion of the fanbase, it's like 'the farce is over' and they can finally just give Cam the Job now.

Stidham was a former fourth round pick who looked good last preseason and has looked decent this August but has shown times where it looks like he could use more development. Then again so have the other two, as Newton has barely looked better than Hoyer.

Oh well, camp goes on.
