JC Jackson was asked about the success Olszewski has had in practice. Jackson said, “Oh yeah man, Gunner is a tough kid. Gunner is the type of kid you know you have to compete against Gunner. He’s coming at you every play, every snap. He’s going to go 100 percent, even in blocking drills. He’s a dog. He has a dog mentality. I love going against Gunner.”
Gunner has been lining up in the flanker and slot positions. I am not sure if he has ran any X receiver routes but he is showing versatility and that was what got him signed last season. Gunner's highlight this camp was being the first to beat Gilmore.
Gunner told reporters that he "didn't remember" beating Gilly. He also said, “I’m just excited every time I get in that huddle, whether it be at slot receiver or outside receiver. I’ll just do whatever the team needs me to do. If a guy needs a breath at outside receiver I’ll go in there. If a guy needs a breath at inside receiver, I’ll go over there.”
Olszewski is also the teams main punt returner and emergency depth corner back. Gunner is starting off slow but is doing everything Patriots coach Troy Brown did. Maybe he'll find the same success in New England.
