Scott Zolak is around the corner

The current 2020 roster has Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham, and Brian Hoyer on the roster. With three quarterbacks on the roster, one normally works as the practice quarterback to keep the defense ready and the other rides the pine. 

However, that didn't stop the press from asking about the Patriots acquiring another quarterback for the practice squad incase of emergencies. Carrying four quarterbacks into a season is rarely done, and normally means there's serious issues at the position. Belichick had a response in a very Belichick way.

When Phil Perry asked Belichick about a practice squad quarterback, Belichick responded, “Scott Zolak is right around the corner...” 

Zolak can surely still throw the ball with a red shirt on but he hasn't played in like 20 years or so. He can help keep receivers loose but there is no way the Patriots would sign him and Bill's response to the thought of carrying four quarterbacks goes to show how intelligent he thought the question was.
