Newton on Brady

Tom Brady no longer can throw the ball deep down the field, but that's not the Patriots problem anymore. Cam recently talked about Brady, the elephant.

Newton talked about doing what Tom Couldn't. See Newton is an H-Back (Not to be confused with Halfback) playing quarterback. He has the speed and size of what the Patriots would expect from a Dalton Keene type tight end. So when Newton made his comments, he wasn't lying.

Let's face it, with Newton (or Stidham) the Patriots aren't gonna be 29th in play calling of RPOs. The Patriots are also gonna have a quarterback that can get 500 yards or more because Newton and his competition can both scramble. Newton can also run Baltimore's two quarterback offense schemes.

His interview may have come off arrogant but he was honest. Here's what Cam Said About the GOAT.

"“We have to talk about the elephant in the room. You know who you’re coming after? I’m like ‘Yeah, great.’ What he was, what he is, is great, needs no even talking about it. But one thing about it though: Coach McDaniels, you’re able to call some stuff that you ain’t ever been able to call now. You’re getting a dog. You’re getting one of these ticked off dogs, too. And I’m looking at the schedule and I’m like ‘Who we’re playing? That team passed on me! OK, that team passed on me. They could’ve came and got me.'”

Jerry Trotta of Musket Fire wrote an article about Newton's sit down and said "it could rub Josh McDaniels the wrong way."

Trotta also wrote, "We’re not even saying that Newton meant any harm by his words. It would just behoove him to watch what he saying at every turn, given he’s now in New England. We get that he’s out to make a statement, but the last place he wants to find himself is in Bill Belichick’s doghouse before the start of training camp."

For some of Patriots Nation, less is still more. For others less of the Patriots way is more. The season cannot come soon enough, when talk is done on the field and stories matter again.
