Respect, The Patriots Had More Than One HOF Defensive Tackle, And Not Everyone Is Big Vince.

Patriots fans were comparing Christian Barmore to Vince Wolfork. That's a pretty big comparison to make. Earlier this year I read pretty much everything on Baremore, and what I read described someone closer to Richard Seymour.

I heard someone say Davon Godchaux was  like Richard Seymour. I was like, great here we go again. So I went and looked at what I could find about him coming out of the draft. What I read was a guy who was a developmental player.

He could handle weaker offensive linemen but struggled occasionally with stronger tight ends. He drew double and triple coverage and was good as disrupting the pocket and opening holes for others. And although he needed work at run stopping, he still could plug holes.

Barmore was listed as more of a versatile hybrid tackle end. Was known for his pass rush and most of what I read said he would be used situational in passing downs early in his career, until he learned to stop the run.

Big Vince was a run stopper first, and for most but he could disrupt the pocket on passing downs. Seymour was the pass rusher. Seymour finished with 57.5 sacks, 79 quarterback hits, and 91 tackles for a loss. Big Vince only had 16 sacks, 38 quarterback hits and 39 tackles for a loss.

NFL.com's Zierlein compared Godchaux to Khyri Thornton. Thornton was a backup and development run stopper. Zierlein compared Barmore to Marcell Dareus. Darius only had 37 sacks but he was in the backfield more with 61 quarterback hits and 50 tackles for loss. Darius is definitely not Wilfork but he's not quite Seymour either. It's definitely a better comparison than Big Vince for Barmore. As far as Godchaux, I can't say too much about his comparison based off his nfl play but he's got a closer of a skill set than his teammate.
