Veteran receiver could find Green grass in New England, as Patriots consider bringing in a tiger on the prowl.

The New England Patriots had trouble getting separation during the 2020 season. On the Active roster they had one guy with good speed to stretch the field, the practice squad had three or four more but the team seemed to lack the quickness to be able to lose defenders when making their cuts. The Patriots need someone with better three cone and ten yard time. That guy might be A.J. Green.

The Patriots were one of the teams interested in A.J. Green before the Cincinnati Bengals slapped green with a franchise tag of $18 million. It's doubtful that they Bengals will wanna spend that kinda money again on Green as if tagged again it would be in the $35 million range. Green made it clear he wanted out vocally and by taking plays off but did just enough to show teams he could still play.

Green's half-assed play gave him 523 yards and 2 touchdowns on 47 catches, with a long of 33. Green didn't play balls to the Walls like he normally would and it showed on tape. Green wants to win a ring. The Patriots secondary carried the team and Hightower is returning to help the defense. That could be enough to lure him in.

Green may or may not be a number one anymore but he is a number two at the least. Edelman, Meyers, Byrd, and Green could be a hell of a core. Green is expected to fall in that $5 - $8 Millon dollar range. Cincy jungle says his range is up to "$8.8" million.

Green is only currently 32 and Edelman is 34. 2021 will probably be Edelman's last season and the Patriots will need veteran leadership. We saw the chemistry Amendola and Edelman had. Edelman is sure to welcome Green and make him at home.

Some people are arguing the Patriots need a guy lining up on the sideline running to the endzone at full speed on every play. That would tire a guy out quickly and once winded, teams would put a lesser corner with speed on that receiver. The Patriots need guys who get separation on routes. Any where Green goes he's gonna be motivated to win a ring and prove he's still got it.

Plus Belichick has been trying to bring in another experienced veteran for years. Sanu, Decker, Gordon, A.B., Thomas, Wayne, the list goes on. The Patriots even tried to make a trade for Green in 2019 but the Bengals didn't budge.

If the price is right, Green is exactly half of what the Patriots need to do at receiver. Adding Green and a true X-Receiver at the tier two level in the same $5-$8 salary bracket would help the Patriots but Troy Brown must, and I repeat must get more out if his depth incase someone goes down. The Patriots have a lot of options currently on the roster and in future contracts, the 2021 receivers room is going to be packed. Brown must push them to the limits. That would include Edelman and Green if signed.
