The Patriots will add Depth to Special Teams

The New England Patriots didn't have the best special teams unit in 2020. The kicking game was a revolving door, the returners were a joke, and the only good thing they had going for them was their punting unit.

The club cannot afford to let an aging Edelman continue to return punts. The Patriots have been trying to find a return man for a few years now. Slater is near retirement and both him and Bethel are free agents. Bolden is a do it all but he's just average to above average at best.

The 2020 draft is loaded with special team players that can contribute on either side of the ball. Early this year, I built my big board for best fit by position for the team. I have been criticized for not going after Marquee players. Most of them are underrated, developmental, or day 3 players. Especially the running and defensive backs I chose.

Many a New England fan are ignoring the cap space and team holes. This year's draft and free agency period is about two things, versatility and depth. Belichick will do what he always does. Get the best employees, for the right price. With the CBA making things difficult, Bill will get to show how good of a GM he is, one more time.
