Patriots Officially Sign QB Cam Newton

The Patriots officially made Cam Newton a member of team on July 8th. Newton is a 31 year old former first round draft pick and former NFL mvp, who has been inconsistent.

Newton has completed 59.6% of his passes for 29,041 yards, with 182 touchdowns and 108 interceptions. He has also rushed for 4806 yards with 58 touchdowns and 55 fumbles.

Patriots nation should remember Newton as the quarterback that broke former Patriots legend Steve Grogan's rushing touchdowns record in 2011, when he rushed for 14.

Newton has started 124 regular season games and 7 playoff games, joining Brian Hoyer as the only other Patriots quarterback with starting experience.

There should be a good quarterback competition even if many think Belichick is just going to hand a guy off free agency a job without earning it in the system during whatever camp is held. One must keep in mind, Newton could sit until the bye after week five but then again the same could be said for Stidham or Hoyer.

Like him or not, like the timing of the signing or hate it; Cam Newton is now a member of the New England Patriots. Thus, we must give him the same support as we gave Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer.

Signing Newton has brought a lot of bandwagoners back to Patriots Nation. Ignore them and ignore those who pushed for the 'Tank for Trevor' movement.  Each and every person under a contract with the Patriots organization has a job to do, "just win", and we as fans have a job to do as well, and that's to support the team as it is and the decision as they make them.

So welcome Cam, now get to work.
