Does Belichick rescue another player from the pound?

Should the Patriots trade for former first rounder David Njoku who wants out of Cleveland?

Cleveland brought in Austin Hooper and took away Njoku's starting job. Patriots' fans know Hooper, so they know th hat Nnoku wouldn't see much playing time.

The Patriots have young tight ends Ryan Izzo, Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene. They also have Matt Lacosse who was out played by Izzo.

Sean T. McGwire wrote, "Njoku is a talented pass catcher with impressive speed (4.6 40-yard dash) and size (6-foot-4, 246 pounds). Although he was impacted by a wrist injury and a concussion last season, the 2017 first-round pick recorded 56 receptions for 639 yards with four touchdowns in 2018. He ranked among the top 10 tight ends in receiving yards that season."

Njoku would make a good fourth tight end. He is 6'5" 247 pounds. Unfortunately, he is set to make over $3 million. However, there are players that the Patriots could move on from.

In 36 games, Njoku has caught 93 passes for 1066 yards and 9 touchdowns. The downside is he only has 6 broken tackles.

Njoku ran a 4.64 forty and as 6.97 three cone. I don't know how much this matters to Belichick or he wouldn't of passed on Albert Okwuegunam.

To be honest this is not a trade the Patriots need to make, so this comes down to what Belichick sees in his veterans. How much faith does he have in either Lacosse or Izzo. The Patriots are going to need 1 guy with experience.

Izzo looked good before his concussion had him miss 4 games and get red shirted. However, Izzo wasn't thought of as a first round talent. Which makes bringing in Njoku that much more tempting for Belichick.
