The Patriots staff spoke with the media. Really short conversations. Trying to find info worth talking about was like trying to sift sand for gold. If anything, all that was found were a few flakes.
Bill O'Brien was asked about Mac Jones. He responded with "what you did in the past whether it's a player, coach, or anybody in the organization really has no bearing on what happens moving forward." He really implied that this year's theme was "moving forward," and he kept bringing up coaching. If one reads between the lines, he was talking about Mac and Judge.
Matt Groh admitted plucking information from Bill O'Brien on both the ACF South and SEC. He also implied that the draft was a group effort. And shut down the idea of that they believe the team is set by bringing people back.
Steve Belichick didn't say much of anything important. Was basically talking like his dad. He did say that there's no animosity between him and Jared Mayo. Mayo said the same thing and gave a cliche answer about family & love for the Boston area. Sounding like Hoyer a year before leaving for the Raiders. He also said himself and Steve, "are in the meetings," sounding like there's no special treatment.
When asked about doing the play calling Mayo said, "why would you fix something that's not broken." Leading one to infer that if he is the next guy, Steve will be his DC. He also implied he wants Hightower on the staff.
Overall, there wasn't a lot to go on from what the coaches said. It's a lot of interpretation based of what they provided. So everything is to be taken with a grain of salt.
