I did reports on Mac Jones, Dustin Crum, and Justin Fields, only to find out that Crum returned to college. I will not be doing anymore quarterback profiles. Unlike the other positions who I only have three to five guys, My quarterback list was much much larger.
So In order from the guys I think are the best passers to the least of the D1 quarterbacks. The list was gathered in January, to my knowledge, none of these guys returned.
Mac Jones, Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, Zac Wilson, Kyle Trask, Ian Book, Zac Thomas, Ian Book, Sam Ehlinger, Davis Mills, Peyton Ramsey, Malik Cunningham, Feleipe Franks, Levi Lewis, Shane Buechele, Alan Bowman, Spenser Sanders, Jake Bentley, Chase Garbers, Kellen Mond, and Brady White.
Lawrence and Wilson might be the best quarterbacks, that doesn't mean they're the best passers in this draft. I agree with former Patriots coordinator Charlie Weiss and former Rainbow Warriors head coach June Jones about Mac Jones being the best passer in the draft.
At running back, the Patriots needed a third down back prior to the return of James White. Now they need someone who could potentially replace Michel, as I don't think he'll be back in 2022. The guys I selected are versatile and can replace Michel although that was not their original purpose.
Javonte Williams UNC 5'10" 215-230lbs nfl.com draft grade 6.40
Commitee back with good vision, who follows blocks and picks up blitzers well. North and south, one cut powerback. Stays low and runs through contact with ability to stay upright picking up yards after contact. Good stuff arm, tough to being down. Three down back who offers decent route running and pass protection. Has solid hands as a pass catcher but blocking technique and ball security could be improved. Slow acceleration but with good burst through the line and dangerous in space. 4.58 forty time has people concerned with breakaway speed, along with agility concerns running a 6.97 three cone drill. Should excel in a spread or west coast offense. Could go day one but should be gone by the end of round two.
In 34 games, 366 attempts for 2297 yards and 29 touchdowns. 50 catches for 539 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Michael Carter UNC 5'9" 200lbs nfl.com draft grade 6.17
Zone rusher who should succeed in a Spread offense or as a committee back.
Shifty and elusive with a lower center of gravity. Good acceleration and burst running the edge or like a cannon up the middle.
Hands and route running make him an excellent pass catching back who's dangerous in space, creates missed tackles. Has good vision on cuts and should see extra time early as a kick returner. Concerns about his small size, appears to lack power in his runs and stiff arms. Average pass blocker who struggles with blitz pickups. Should be available on day two.
In 44 games, 514 attempts for 3404 yards and 22 touchdowns. 82 receptions for 656 yards and 6 touchdowns. Averaged 22.4 yards on 29 returns.
Rhamondre Stevenson Oklahoma 5'11" 230-240lbs NFL.com grade 6.11
Committee back who excelled around 250lbs. Needs a spread coast offense. North and south powerback, who can run zone systems but is not his bread and butter. A one cut running back with a 4.64 forty time causing concerns about his burst and break away speed. Has good vision and runs low with a good stuff arm. Runs over people and able to wiggle out of tackles to create yards after contact. A three down back who is better as a number two back and not the featured back. Good receiver with soft hands but ran simple security blanket routes. Will see time on special teams early as a gunner and return blocker. Average pass blocker with poor blitz pickup, will need some development. Should be available on day three.
In 19 games, 165 attempts for 1180 yards with 13 touchdowns. 28 receptions for 298 yards. 4 solo tackles.
