Ex Patriots player makes Bold prediction about Quarterback Jarrett Stidham's 2020 NFL season.

Rob Ninkovich weighted in on the Patriots quarterback situation, that was created when Tom Brady abandoned ship faster than the Titanic sunk.

Ninkovich works at ESPN and is still keeping Tabs on his former club. Here's what he said about what's going on in Foxborough.

"I think Brian Hoyer will be the starter Week 1 and I say that because the quarterback position is one of the most important for reps under center, seeing defensive looks, looking at coverage, understanding the offense … Look, they’re not practicing right now. There’s no minicamp, there’s no offseason, there’s no training camp. We don’t know when that’s going to happen …“So if you have a veteran quarterback who has been in the system, understands what to expect what an NFL season is like, you’re gonna want to go with a guy who has the veteran leadership [and] also what it takes to be in that building. Look, when you’re a second-year player, you really don’t realize what a season’s like as a starter. You don’t understand what it’s going to take, and not having an offseason does not help. So, Brian Hoyer will be the starter Week 1.”

The Patriots signed Brian Hoyer to compete with Stidham for the position. However, many Patriots fans believe it was actually just to Mentor Stidham. The Patriots said they wanted to develop Stidham a second year but Brady went and messed it all up.

Hoyer has started in the NFL and in 2014, went 7-6 with a Cleveland Browns team that should've won two to three games at max. Hoyer knows the Patriots system, and has never had this type of situation. Every team prior, Hoyer has been put in charge of a dumpster fire. 

This would be the first time he had a good team, with a good head coach and offensive coordinator. While the receiving core is underrated, Hoyer doesn't have the luxury of ignoring open pass catchers; thus they should improve. 

The Patriots have a returning offensive line, which should allow the running game to explode. While Stidham doesn't have experience to perform, Hoyer's experience could lead to him doing the exact same thing that Trent Dilfer did in 2000 with the Ravens.

Skylar Carlin of Clutch Points wrote " Also, with a limited offseason, Hoyer does have an edge over Stidham, who is entering his second season. Despite everyone believing Stidham will begin the year as the starter, Ninkovich confidently believes Hoyer will get the nod."

With this covid-19 delay, all we can do is hope to wait and see. 

Seahawks could Re-sign troubled player Josh Gordon

The Patriots stood by Gordon and paid for his rehab to make sure the wide receiver got the help he needed for his addiction. Gordon did not have the 2019 the Patriots thought he would have, however.

In the six games he played for the Patriots, he had 20 catches on 36 Targets, for 287 yards and and 1 touchdown. Gordon started having issues and there were reports that Gordon kept sneaking off. 

On Halloween of 2019, Jeff Kerr of CBS reported that the Patriots were going to release Josh Gordon. Who then signed with the Seahawks. 

During his time with the Seahawks, Gordon had 7 catches in 5 games. For 139 yards and 0 touchdowns; Before being suspended.

This is Gordon's fifth suspension for substance abuse. However, according to Nico Beato of Clutch Points, the Seahawks are ready to resign Gordon should he be allowed to play.

"it looks like the interest between Gordon and the Seahawks is mutual."

Beato quoted quarterback Jake Heap of saying "From my understanding, they’re going to have zero hesitation bringing him back if he’s available. A guy with that kind of talent and with that little of responsibility, I’m perfectly OK with that situation.”

At some point the risk to resign Gordon is going to out way the rewards and or the NFL is going to tell the troubled wideout,  "NO MORE!" Until then all we can do is wait and see if Gordon will be allowed to play a partial season because he has shown us that playing a full season is unrealistic 

An explanation as to why Patriots haven't publicly discussed Jarrett Stidham much

The Patriots have said about as much as anyone would expect them to say about their quarterbacks going into 2020.

It is still unknown who will be the man under center once the season kicks off. For now, it is believed that their will be a quarterback competition between Hoyer and the three inexperienced young quarterbacks.

Ryan Hannable eluded to the possibility of the Patriots adding another Quarterback. 

"Some have read into that as the team could potentially add a free agent like Cam Newton," Hannable wrote on WEEI.

Former Patriot Matt Light spoke with former colts punter Pat Macafee about the Patriots quarterback situation.

Matt Light said "You’re not hearing anything because there’s nothing to be said." Talking about who's the number one for the Patriots. "Bill wasn’t lying. He doesn’t know which one of his guys is going to be the guy yet..." "There’s just no upside to saying it so he’s not going to do it."

Matt Light went on to say what it's going to take for Stidham or whomever takes over to win with the Patriots.

"They are going to take care of him and manage him as best they can. What they really need is the offensive line to go above and beyond.”

What we know is the Patriots brought Hoyer in with a chance to compete and that he is an experienced starter with knowledge of the Patriots system. We  also know that the Patriots intended to sit and develop Stidham for one more season behind Brady.

So while Stidham maybe the favorite outside the team, The organization might have Brian Hoyer in mind to lead the 2020 Patriots to their twelfth superbowl appearance, on their climb of the stairway to seven.

For now all we can do is sit back and wait for some meaningful football and wait out these trying times full of speculation and rumor.

Russell Wilson pushing for Seahawks to sign Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown fleeced the Raiders and the Patriots for some serious money in 2019. Brown was released from the Raiders after a plethora of issues arose, including recording Raiders executives.

The Patriots signed Brown who played in one game. Brown was accused of sexual assault. Brown sent a group chat that included one of the victims, which lead to his dismissal from the Patriots organization. Brown then went on to verbally attack owner Robert Kraft.

Brown has shown that he is clearly mentally unstable and in need of medical help over the past year. Brown met with teams but nobody would touch him during the 2019 season after he was released by Belichick.

Fast forward to May  2020 and Russell Wilson appears to be lobbying for the troubled receiver to bring his cancer to the Seahawks locker room according to John Clayton.

“It’s pretty clear the Seahawks want to run the ball even more this year. They have loaded up at tight end and tried to stay big along the offensive line. But it’s not out of the question for the Seahawks to add another wide receiver. According to sources, Wilson would love to add Antonio Brown. Brown is also close with backup QB Geno Smith, whose one-year contract with the Seahawks was finalized Wednesday.”

Virgil Villanueva says that if the Seahawks do intend to sign Brown, it would not be until the preseason. 

"if the Seahawks are interested in Brown, fans should expect the team to chase after him either in late July or August."

The Seahawks  seem to have other needs at the moment, so signing Brown would take away cap needed in those areas. The Seahawks have done their best to stay away from trouble makers. So the question needs be asked, after watching Brown's 2019; is Brown worth the risk?

Miami receiving trade calls for Josh Rosen

The Miami Dolphins were quick to trade for Josh Rosen in 2019. Rosen a former first round quarterback from 2018 with the Arizona Cardinals. 

The Cardinals found something wrong with Rosen as they quickly gave up on him for Kyler Murray. The Dolphins has Rosen split time with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2019.

The former Pac-12 quarterback is 3-13 as an NFL starter. Over his two years, Rosen has thrown for 2845 yards, 12 touchdowns and 19 Interceptions, while completing a poor 54.8% of his passes. 

The Thing about quarterbacks is it's all about fit. Rosen, like Mike White, Ryan Finley, and Jalen Hurts were all drafted to the wrong team. It happens, hopefully Rosen is not too far gone. Being drafted by the wrong team can ruin a player for their entire career.

Cole McCauley of Clutch Points wrote about Rosen "If Rosen does end up staying in Miami, he will have to battle for the starting job once again against veteran signal-caller Ryan Fitzpatrick who led the team in both passing and rushing last season. Things became even more difficult for Rosen this offseason when the Dolphins drafted Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa fifth overall in the recent NFL Draft as he is expected to be the future of the franchise."

Apparently teams have been contacting the Dolphins about Rosen. One might wonder why When Joe Flacco and Cam Newton are still looking for work. The answer is salary. Most teams have their starter and if they want to bring in Rosen, they could be getting the top quarterback of the 2018 draft. 

Currently only two teams really stick out as possible trade candidates for Rosen. The New England Patriots whom are about to embark on a quarterback competition between Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer.

The other is the Jaguars whom have Minshew as the man. The Jaguars currently have the biggest risk at the position. So it would not be surprising if they were the ones trying to acquire the young quarterback.

The Dolphins are going to want to recoup something for Rosen, so they have all the time in the world to make the trade.  The real question is being a trade would make three teams in three years, so what is Rosen really worth?

Understanding the Chung extension.

The Patriots drafted Kyle Dugger to add to their defensive backfield. Thoughts were he was going to be replacing Chung. The Patriots signed Chung on Wednesday to an exstention, locking the safety up until the 2023 season. Leaving many confused why the Patriots drafted Dugger.

Ignoring the fact that the Patriots needed help on special teams and that Harmon was just sent packing like an uninvited house guest, the Patriots had other reasons to sign Dugger.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported " Was told Chung considered retirement this offseason. Instead, he re-ups with New England for multiple years." This came moments after Field Yates broke the news on the contract exstention.

Per Field Yates, "The Patriots and S Patrick Chung have agreed to a two-year extension through 2023, per sources. Chung gets $3M to sign and is now due up to $12.8M over the next four years. One of the most reliable players on their standout defense." 

With exception to being arrested on drug chargers last season, Chung has been the embodiment of what it means to be a member of the Patriots. It's why the Patriots  were so quick to bring him home after shipping him off to the Eagles.

Chung is a three time superbowl champion and future member of the Patriots hall of fame. 

While the Patriots have Chung locked up to 2023, there is no guarentee that he will play that long. Dugger is an insurance policy incase Chung retires early or suffers another injury. Chung is one of the many players to sacrifice their bodies and suffer injuries in the superbowl, in Hope's of helping the Patriots obtain more jewelry 

The Patriots have their future at Safety secured with Joe Juan Williams and Kyle Dugger. So when McCourty and Chung finally give in to their thoughts of exiting stage left, the Patriots will be ready. 

O'Shea fired in Miami because players were too daft to learn the playbook.

When Brian Flores took the Miami job, he knew he was going to need an offensive mind. So he looked inside, he looked to his family, he looked to the Patriots and then he did what was best. He signed Chad O'Shea to be his coordinator.

Rob Bradford of WEEI shared the thoughts of many in Patriots Nation about O'Shea. " And when the Dolphins went on to win three of their last five games -- including a season-ending victory in Foxboro -- everything pointed to O'Shea immersing himself as part of the rebuilding of the Dolphins."

However, Chad O'Shea was released from his duties with the Dolphins after the season. Leading many to wonder what the hell happened. 

Bradford wrote that according to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins' personal were too stupid to be able to run O'Shea's offense. It was a system that Hoyer, McDaniels, and Brady could implement but one that Josh Rosen and Ryan Fitzpatrick were too dense to pick up.

The Herald wrote "The Patriots offense is considered complex, but a player said O’Shea made the situation worse by trying to install especially complicated, advanced elements of the Patriots offense that Brady and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels used." 

According to the paper, O'Shea would go to Flores complaining that the players weren't putting in the work to learn the playbook. By the end of the season, the playbook should've been close to second nature for the veterans. However, Bradford says the players blamed O'Shea for their faults and left Flores with little choice.

"Some of the players felt O’Shea wasn’t doing a good job teaching it..." Forcing Flores' hand, "O'Shea was replaced by 67-year-old Chan Gailey." Said Bradford.

O'Shea took a lot of heat by Patriots Nation after being fired when there was speculation that he could replace McDaniels if McDaniels went to Cleveland. The thought was O'Shea couldn't coach, he was a one and done. It now looks like there is a team of mentality slow football players in Florida and no, I am not talking about the Buccaneers. 

The Patriots need help on their coaching staff, and there is always room for an Intelligent coach in the building. Especially since Patriots' players are smart enough to coach in their own rights. 

Many in Pats' nation owe O'Shea an apology as it's been proven players outside the Patriots organization aren't smart enough to learn the Patriots system and culture. Guess that's just another aspect of Belichick's general managing that gets overlooked. 

Caserio rule a direct assault on the Patriots and Bill Belichick.

In an attempted move to finally dethrone the Patriots dynasty, the NFL passed a rule to prevent Bill Belichick from hanging on to his coaching staff.

Darren Hartwell reported "The New England Patriots twice blocked the Houston Texans from interviewing Nick Caserio for their general manager opening."

The league voted to prevent Belichick from hanging on to his coaches. While this is sure to hinder other teams, this new rule is being called the Caserio rule. The reason why is clear, sink the Patriots.

"Per Breer, teams no longer can include clauses in executives' contracts that would prevent them from moving to a higher role in another organization." Accroding  to Hartwell.

The new rule change also prevents Belichick from stopping his coaches from taking jobs that would see them promoted to higher roles with other teams.

Jared Mayo may soon find himself as a defensive coordinator for some team with a dysfunctional coaching staff.

This isn't the first time coaching rules were made or changed to hurt the Patriots. In 2018 the league passed the "Josh McDaniels" rule, making it so a coach couldn't change their mind once they verbally agreed to sign with a team. 

This was because McDaniels chose to stay with the Patriots. Leaving the Colts to scramble to find a replacement. 

If this new rule doesn't end the Patriots reign over the NFL, lord knows what Goodell and the NFL Brass will pass to put an end to Bill Belichick. 

Brady's Former Backups in New England need to imitate his recent actions now, if they want to succeed.

The Patriots like most teams are missing spring work outs. Although teams can report to facilities for medical reasons, they're not allowed to begin training at this time.

Brian Hoyer and Jarret Stidham are both missing critical time to get and stay familiarized with their receivers and offensive linemen.

One or Both should assemble their offensive units together and hold a workout. The Patriots need a leader on offense and one of them needs to step up and claim the role.

The early spring workout is a chance for the quarterbacks to get timing with their offensive line on snaps. It's also a chance to learn and communicate what they want from pass catchers. These are things the Patriots are missing out on.

We have seen quarterbacks in the past, quarterbacks like Drew Brees get his guys together and hold simulations of OTA workouts. 

Tom Brady, a name no writer can go without mentioning once, just held a practice with his team,  to familiarize with his new family. That is something the Patriots quarterbacks need to learn from and imitate.

Hjalte Froholdt 4th round 2019 draft pick and Interior offensive lineman is already showing he's committed to his craft by taking the initiative to report to an offensive lineman camp on his own. 

If the head of the Denmark chapter of Patriots Nation can step up his ability to get into game shape, one of the two leaders of the offense better do the same or it is going to be another long year for the New England Patriots offense.

Understanding the decision the Green Bay Packers Made In this offseason and why they didn't bring in elite receivers.

The Packers were just in the NFC championship, and yet lost because they relied on a player who throws the ball way to much for a 36 year old quarterback. So they went out and drafted his Heir apparent.

Aaron Rodgers is 36 years old. If he is lucky enough to play out Jordan Loves contract, he'll be 40. Rodgers has thrown around 600 passes a year since taking over for Farve and been slipping in two key areas.

Rodgers was averaging over 64% on completions and watched it fall to 62% in both 2018 and 2019. His touchdown average was over 6% of his throws and over the last two years it fell to 4.2 and 4.6 percent.

If that's not enough, since taken over in 2008 Rodgers has missed 18 of a possible 192 games, mostly due to injury. sportsinjurypredictor.com is giving Rodgers a 38% chance of injury in 2020.

Rodgers has had 3 concussions, An MCL sprain, a fractured foot, calf strain and tear but the most serious injury(to his ability to play quarterback) is twice he has fractured his shoulder clavicle, most recently in 2017. On top of that Rodgers has a fragile ego.

The Packers needed to do something to improve their offense until he surrenders it to Love. They have made a change with this draft to attempt to do what the Saints have done with Brees, Switch to a run first scheme; which will give Rodgers the play action and protect his arm.

The Packers are looking to take pressure off Aaron Rodgers in his twilight years. They want to move him into a game manager role and let him beat teams with his mind.

To help Rodgers they signed Power back AJ Dillion, and Receiving Back Patrick Taylor. Taylor can be used like the Patriots use James White and is a candidate for a receiver convert at 6'2" 217.

The Packers also signed receiving fullback Jordan Jones and Mighigan State Receiver Darrell Stewart, who's also a special team player and was projected to be a 6th or 7th round pick. Stewart also received attention from the Patriots, who signed his college quarterback.

They also signed veteran receiver Devin Funchess to add depth and could bring back slot receiver Ryan Grant to add a guy who can pick up quick yards as the number three or four.

The Packers signed a versatile tight end in Josiah Deguara. A player who can line up anywhere on the field. Can block as an extra tackle, go out for passes as a receiver, line up as a fullback or take handoffs like a powerback. He provides many options.

Then the Packers signed a bunch of guys to protect Rodgers. Guards Jon Runyan, Zack Johnson. Center Jake Hanson, and tackles Simon Staphaniak, Travis Bruffy to keep Rodgers off his back and out of danger; while opening holes for their run game.

The Packers have done just enough to help Rodgers down the stretch. Rodgers is a big money quarterback and the packers are expecting him to elevate the players around him like all big money players should.

According to Ray Rauth of DPN Sports Talk, Aaron Rodgers likes where the direction of the team is headed.

Ray quoted Rodgers as saying "I like were we're at and what we accomplished was pretty amazing. The additions we brought in, with a first year head coach; I liked our progress throughout the season. Obviously we had a lot of success and won a lot of close games..."

Ray said Rodgers is looking for production out of rookies and young players in 2020. Ray then congratulates Rodgers for his professionalism. 

For those of you who don't know, Rodgers is a diva; A regular Mariah Carey if you will. 

Ray goes on to say he believes Rodgers has to be upset but acknowledges the quarterback cannot play forever. 

A move like this also means the Packers are placing some blame on Aaron for the lack of production from their pass catchers. We've seen quarterbacks do this in the past. The most recent case was Brady's refusal to work with younger players in New England during the past few seasons.

Rodgers is just going to have to go along with the new system. If needed the Packers can adjust the team to fit Rodgers strengths but the noodle arm should benefit from from a run first system; just look what it did for Ryan Tannehill.

The Packers are in the NFC north and don't look like they're even close to being challenged for the division crown. The Packers worked smarter, not harder this offseason. 

As Ray says "All you got to do is get into the playoffs, and good things can happen."

Good things like knocking Brady and the Buccaneers out of the playoffs on route to losing to the Patriots in superbowl 55. Hey, one can dream.
