Patriots 2025 NFL Mock Draft 2.0
The phone rings and the Las Vegas Raiders are looking to make a move. The Patriots agree and trade back. They receive picks 6, 68, 108, 180, and 222, sending pick 4 to the Raiders.
The phone rings again. And this time it's Carolina looking to move up. The Panthers offer picks 8, 74, and 227 for pick 6.
Now Wolf likes to have extra picks, and the remaining calls through this draft kept trying to take from this year and dump on to next year. While one, maybe two picks, Wolf might agree with, he's not doing that before pick 144. And the Patriots phone was largely silent at that point.
The Patriots with the number 8 selection take:
Will Campbell from LSU. Campbell is intelligent with good strength and burst but he needs to work on his hands and pad level. Should be a day one stater at tackle and if he doesn't work, he can kick in to guard.
At 38 the Patriots take Jihaad Campbell from Alabama. Campbell is an intelligent, aggressive, every down linebacker. His zone coverage is decent and he's athletic enough to trust in pass coverage.
At pick 68 the Patriots select Tre Harris receiver from Ole Miss. Harris is a red zone and deep threat, who can get yards after the catch. Has potential to become the Patriots first number one in a while.
At pick 69 the Patriots acquire: J.T. Tuimoloau of Ohio St. Tuimoloau is an edge who can defend the run but will need development in his pass rush. Could be another three down player in a few seasons.
At 74 the Patriots find themselves in the clock selecting Xavier Watts from Notre Dame. A true safety who can finally fill the whole left by Devin McCourty. While he would be the free safety the team needs, his versatility wouldn't limit him to playing deep, he has the ability to play any safety role.
To close out the Patriots day 2 selections, the Patriots take Tate Ratledge, interior offensive linemen from Georgia at pick 77. Has good strength and athleticism but like Campbell, Will need to work on his hands and pad level. This move allows the Patriots to kick Strange inside to center.
At pick 106 the Patriots pick up a developmental weapon, Savion Williams receiver from TCU who could be the next Cordell Patterson or Damien Woodhead depending on how the team uses him. He's a little raw and that is why if he's still around in the fourth, he's a steal.
At pick 108 the Patriots go to Texas A&M to get Shemar Turner, defensive lineman. Has the ideal size but needs to work on his run stopping ability. Will be a situational pass rusher earlier in his career.
At pick 144 the Patriots bolster the corner back position with Nohl Williams from California. Williams will make his impact early competing for the return positions and special teams play. He is a press man - zone corner who has the skills for free safety if his development at corner doesn't transition.
At pick 180 the Patriots select tight end Jake Briningstool from Clemson. He provides the Patriots with a developmental pass catching target, who can replace Hooper in 2026. He's not fast but he is reliable and that is what's going to help him secure his spot.
At pick 217, the Patriots draft running back Brashard Smith from SMU. Another shifty pass catching running back to add to the stable. While not a power back, will accelerated in counters and short passing game but can lineup everywhere. Think Woodhead or Dion Lewis.
At pick 220 is the return of the fullback position with the selection of Brock Lampe from Northern Illinois. He's a linebacker convert but he's the best fullback in the draft and there should be a few teams looking at him. He has the ability to to be used as an H-back and lineup as the fullback, in the slot, or as the inline tight end. He could be the next Larry Centers.
At pick 222, the Patriots draft Tyler Loop from Arizona. The Patriots need a Kicker and Loop is the next kicking God. The Patriots could wait to the UDFA period but they risk losing him.
At pick 227 the Patriots take quarterback Will Rogers from Washington. Another weak arm computer brain quarterback that can be a career back up and pinch starter. He's a RPO / Spread quarterback that's a cross between Jimmy G and Brian Hoyer.
At pick 238 is Brent Matiscik, the second player from TCU. Joe Cardona is well over the career average length for long Snapper and Brent Matiscik is one of, if not the only long snapper in the country invited to the NFL combine. Matiscik also has experience playing tight end, giving the Patriots an emergency fill in on the active 53.
