It's not just anyone buddying up, it was Belichick, McDaniels, Lynch and Shanahan. Both the Patriots and the 49ers have their eyes on Mac Jones. There's other players to watch from Alabama but both teams are in need of a quarterback. There's still ways for the 49ers and Patriots to get a deal done. The 49ers saved the patriots money few years back by cutting Hoyer. They could do it again.
There's still moves the teams could make, including a N'keal Harry trade. If there's a way to work it so the 49ers get paid and the Patriots get Garoppolo on the low it will happen. Maybe Harry and a fifth for a sixth. Then cutting Garoppolo. It's just one of many ideas.
Harry is a former number one who's not developing in the Patriots system but could turn things around in San Francisco. Harry has this season and next, so he's still worth a third at this moment.
Steven A. Smith even floated a Garoppolo for Newton trade idea. For me I don't care how good Newton can run thr ball if he cannot dink and dunk. Jimmy's made of glass and Newton's arm is dead. I'd bet on the Patriots offensive line over Newton's arm. So I like it kinda but more would have to be involved.
Whatever the case, where there's smoke, there's fire, and there's a lot of smoke coming from the Alabama proday. What are they up to is anyone's guess but somethings a brewing. Even if it fizzles out.
