Cowherd thinks the Patriots will suck.

Colin Cowherd had not faith in the New England Patriots after Tom Brady left. The had a quarterback who's situation made him an unknown as to his true value. They also had majority of their elite defense. Pretty much, Brady and the linebackers were the only major differences. Colin thought the Patriots were going to tank, and guess what; he's talking tank again.

Cowherd said “The Belichick/Cam thing has worked better from a PR standpoint than I thought but this is going to be a really bad football team... After Halloween last year the Patriots scored over 25 points ONCE, against the dreadful Bengals, and that was WITH Tom Brady who had memorized the system. They were 4-5 in their last 9 games, they had 8 players opt-out, and they had several key starters lost to free agency and replaced NONE of them."

Belichick didn't make a lot of splashy moves early. He signed Brian Hoyer, Beau Allen, Brandon Copeland and Marquis Lee, while acquired Dan Vitale via trade. The Patriots 

Cowherd continued, "Oh yea, the Draft? They’re not that great at that, and NEVER draft somebody that makes an immediate star impact. They have no functional tight end, no deep threat, the legendary offensive line coach is gone, Brady is out, Gronk is gone…"

Devin Asiasi has been looking dominate for a rookie. The entire starting offensive line minus Marcus Cannon is returning and the Patriots are stacked on their offensive line. If the Patriots want to beat people deep, they have Byrd but that's not their game.

Colin Cowherd also said, "It’s BAD. I have them finishing at 5-11… I had them at .500 after Cam arrived and then they had 8 players opt-out, and they didn’t replace anybody in free agency… I think Belichick knows there are three world class quarterbacks prospects out there, and Belichick knows you can’t win in this league without elite superstar quarterback play. He had a losing record in Cleveland when he didn’t have that. I think the Patriots are targeting a ‘restructuring’ year, and will take the year off. I don’t think New England is a good football team, and this is not a hot take.”

Cowherd is suggesting the Patriots are gonna tank, regardless if it's by choice or by default. The Patriots are counting on their receiving core to make an improvement this year. The entire team is going to have to step up. Special teams and defense might have to carry the team early on.
