NFL Analysts praise Patriots Stidham for risky throws.

The Patriots had their second padded practice and most of the Talk was centered around Jarrett Stidham, second year quarterback from Auburn; whom the Patriots drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft.

Stidham entered the day the best quarterback from Monday but that would be short lived as he threw three interceptions. All the talk was that the competition was over.

However, even with his three poor throws, Analysts praised how well Stidham did on Tuesday. Tom E. Curran praised Stidham's leadership, arm strength and accuracy.

Curran went on to say, "He (Stidham) had the most well-delivered ball of the day in the second half of practice when he found a sliding Damiere Byrd near the left sideline with a timing throw that perfectly anticipated where Byrd would end up. He also closed practice with a nice throw to Mohamed Sanu down the right side. Perfectly placed."

Curran doesn't really blame Stidham for the pick by Gilmore, basically saying that's to be expected throwing near Gilmore. Like even if the guy was open, Gilly is gonna make the Play. He does say that Stidham just threw the ball up for grabs on the Dugger interceptions, hoping for a completion.

Curran basically credits Stidham for testing his luck on the Interception throws. "You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs. You can't play quarterback well until you throw a few picks. The best way to find out where there's trouble is to go looking for it when it doesn't really matter. Like practice.

That's why I didn't feel like the picks were part of an overall bad day for Stidham."

Greg A. Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal acknowledged Stidham's Interceptions and still wrote, "But I came away more impressed with Stidham than the other two quarterbacks for the second day in a row..."

Curran says Cam Newton is starting to develop chemistry with his receivers and that he was effective but has made any plays that say he's the guy.

Curran also praised Hoyer for being a game manager. "On Tuesday, for the second straight day, he had a long completion to Devin Ross. He spreads it around liberally and, when things start to break down a bit, he's so experienced in this offense that he knows what's going to open up and where while, at this point, Stidham and Newton are a little slower to react."

The Patriots are going to open the offense up for Cam and Jarrett but Curran said when it comes to Hoyer, "His mobility and arm strength are not an issue."  Curran says pay attention to the rep count, and said it will tell the tail as the competition goes on and the starter pulls ahead.
